What do they mean?
Gold Filled,( also called rolled gold ) It is made of a base metal ( usually brass or copper ), covered with sheets of gold in a bonding process. This gold is usually 14k gold. It is hard wearing and should last as long as solid 14k gold jewellery. It is safe for most people who have sensitive skin and metal allergies.
Sterling Silver is a mixture of pure silver and some other metal, usually copper.The resulting alloy gives silver strength.The silver content is at least 92.5%.
Vermeil is Sterling Silver that has been gold plated. This is a good choice for people with an allergy to normal gold plated ear clasps.The gold plating on Vermeil is much thicker than ordinary plate.
